Irish Play "Blood" followed by Irish Comedy, Music and Dance

COLUMBIA-TUSCULUM (FOX19)- The Irish Heritage Center is participating as a part of the Kennedy Heights outdoor concert series.

A great opportunity to enjoy an evening of Irish entertainment. See this exciting one act Play the authors take on what happened before the 1916 Easter Rising. "Blood" is by Larry Kirwan of Black 47. One performance featuring the award winning "Irish American Theater Company", today at Kennedy Heights 7:00 P.M.. This is a FREE event and open to the public.

Traditional Irish music night July 8th

COLUMBIA-TUSCULUM (FOX19)- Traditional Irish music will be played Thursday, July 8th at 8:30 PM at the Irish Heritage Center.

The doors open at 7:00 PM at the Irish Heritage Center, 3905 Eastern Ave. Featuring Murphy's Law, Dark Moll and Mick McEvilley.

Voluntary Donations at the Door Social Room and Tea Room open during these events. (That means pints.)

Concert of Irish music with Tim Britton and Brian Miller

 

 

COLUMBIA-TUSCULUM (FOX19)- You can catch some Irish music next week at the Irish Heritage Center.

Hailed as "a phenomenon" by Time magazine, Tim Britton is renowned as one of the leading players of the uillean pipes, one of the sweetest and most complex bagpipes. Tim's unique style as an American with many influences is founded on a profound knowledge of the tradition.

Tim will be joined by guitarist extraordinaire Brian Miller. Together, Tim and Brian will challenge you to stay in your seats, so bring your dancing shoes! You can check them out further at: uilleanpipes.com and evergreentrad.com.

The show will be Thursday, June 24th at 8 PM. At the Irish Heritage Center, 3905 Eastern Ave. Suggested donation is $15.

Bloomsday Today

COLUMBIA TUSCULUM (FOX19)- It's a tradition enjoyed in more than 60 countries around the world. Bloomsday, a celebration of James Joyce's novel, Ulysses, is today and Columbia Tusculum is celebrating at the Irish Heritage Center of Cincinnati at 3905 Easter Avenue at 7:00 PM.

Bloomsday, named for the main character, features dramatized versions of selected chapters and Irish songs from Joyce's era. It began in 1954 when a group of Irish writers decided to retrace the steps of Leopold Bloom and has been a tradition ever since.

The evening will provide both entertainment and a historical perspective.

Admission is $10 with discounts for the Irish Heritage Center Members.

2010 CT Home Tour needs volunteers

COLUMBIA-TUSCULUM (FOX19)- Volunteers are needed to make this years CT Home Tour a successful one. Community council board member Stephen Sayre is organizing the tour this year, which is set to kick off on October 10th.

The Irish Heritage Center gets started

COLUMBIA-TUSCULUM (FOX19)-The Irish Heritage Center of Greater Cincinnati is now the proud owner of the former McKinley School building at 3905 Eastern Ave. Maureen Kennedy and husband, Kent Covey, are leading the building renovation and starting the new center.

There is room for Theater, Music, Dance, Lectures, Classes, Clubs, Rehearsals, Art, Children’s Activities, Events, Weddings, Parties, Films, Storytellers, Sing-alongs, Irish Language Classes, Geneology, Glee Clubs, a Library, a Museum, etc.

The Center is seeking contributions in the form of marketing help, clean up & fix up volunteer time, or donations of supplies or money.

Tennis Tournament Casting Call

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)

Tri-state youngsters will be given a shot to showcase their talent on Fountain Square. Approximately two dozen children will be selected to sing "America the Beautiful" during the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters & Women's Open. This is Cincinnati's biggest international sporting event set to take place August 7 though 22nd at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

Registration will begin Friday June 25 at 10 a.m. and will be open to the first 300 kids age seven to 12. A host of celebrity judges will be present including singer/songwriter Mia Carruthers from MTV's Taking the Stage and Fox19 anchor Rob Williams. The judges decision will be based on the child's vocal ability and personality.

After each participant sings a short a cappella version of the song, they will be given a gift just for auditioning.
